The Turbulence Training Interview

You asked the questions, I went out and got you the answers from the man himself…

Mike:

Craig, before we get started let me tell you just how much I enjoy your program Turbulence Training. As a father of 3 children I don’t have the time to devote to long hours of cardio and most of all it bores me to death. I’ve been exercising consistently for 15 years but admittedly about 6 months ago I went through a period where I was bored with it and I started looking for a program to break the monotony. It had become too much of a chore. I stumbled across your program and your name caught my attention because I’ve read several informative articles in Men’s Health that you authored. So I decided to give it a try and I couldn’t be more pleased. Not only is it effective but it’s really fun, and I now have that zest back for working out. But enough about me.

Craig, tell us about the man behind the program.

Craig:

I’m a Men’s Health magazine fitness advisor, creator of the home fitness
workouts called Turbulence Training, and a Certified Strength and
Conditioning Specialist
.

I’ve been helping men and women lose fat in short workouts, using interval training and resistance training – exactly the opposite approach of what most generic trainers recommend.

Mike:

Are there any prerequisites to start the TT system? I mean, should someone already be at a certain fitness level before starting?

Craig:

There are beginner programs in the TT system. I have used those workouts with men and women of all ages and sizes.

Mike:

Would you explain the schedule and structure of  TT in a nutshell?

Craig:

The Turbulence Training workouts always start with a general bodyweight warm-up, which is much better than wasting your time on the treadmill to start.

Then we move to non-competing strength training supersets for about 20 minutes. This helps build muscle and burn fat at the same time.

Finally, we finish off with 15-20 minutes of interval training, and then stretch as needed at the end of the workout.

Mike:

Most people can ‘t stick with an exercise program because they don’t have a lot of spare time. How long is the typical TT workout?

Craig:

It is about 45 minutes and you exercise 3 times per week. Alternatively, you can split up the workouts, alternating between strength training and interval training, allowing you to workout for only 20 minutes six times per
week.

Mike:

Physical fitness being such a broad field, whereas different folks will have different goals in mind. Some want to increase their strength. Some will want to lose fat. While others will want to build lean body mass and some simply want to build their endurance. So which audience does TT target?

Craig:

The main goal of men and women using Turbulence Training is fat loss and body-sculpting, but I have companion programs that focus on building muscle. Also, your fitness will dramatically improve with interval training.

Mike:

Men, women and children are 3 different groups. Does the training process apply to all three?

Craig:

The programs are for adult men and women, not children.

Mike:

I know the name always means something. So how did you come up with the name Turbulence Training?

Craig:

The program is about putting “turbulence” on your muscles. By that, I mean applying a training stimulus to get you out of your comfort zone. It is not easy training. But the turbulence causes your body to adapt and improve.

Mike:

What separates TT from other popular programs? Like P90X?

Craig:

Turbulence Training is a short, burst exercise system that minimizes the time spent exercising.

Craig, thanks for your time. I’ve really enjoyed talking to you and appreciate you answering a few questions for me and my readers. It’s been an honor.

Since I’ve started TT I’m in the best shape of my life at 31. I’ve never felt better or stronger. It became evident about 3 weeks into the program when I was playing basketball with some friends of mine. Understand that I am not a big guy at all and some of my friends had as much as a foot on me and over 100 pounds but I was actually moving them and pushing them around. They were amazed and so was I.

Before we wrap up, will you tell our readers how to find you online and where they can go to learn more about Turbulence Training?

Craig:

I look forward to hearing from your readers at www.TurbulenceTraining.com
